Symmetry II, “dare mighty things”

This chamber strings piece was inspired by the symmetry and balance found in the works of Wassily Kandinsky. It was written using virtual instruments as a compositional tool, to allow me to compose while dealing with an ongoing illness which left me with intense fatigue, chronic pain, and brain fog.

I found it impossible to compose in my normal manner while dealing with these symptoms, but by using virtual instruments as a means of ‘offloading’ some of the difficulty of the compositional process, such as audiation, rehearsal, orchestration, and so on, I was able to produce this draft.

I am currently turning the draft into a full score, refining the piece as I go, and I will then make a definitive recording from this score. Both the score and final recording will be available on this page on completion.
